Investing in Community

What is the Annual Fund?

The Annual Fund is instrumental to the vitality of St. Paul’s School. With your donations, the Annual Fund is able to provide:
  • Tuition Assistance to over half of our students,
  • Professional development for faculty, and
  • Enhancement of academic programs.
This is all possible because of our unique community and our commitment to preparing St. Paul's students to excel in a world that is not predictable. At St. Paul’s, we understand that one of our greatest strengths is our community. Our students graduate with academic skills, purpose, and empathy.

FAQ About the Annual Fund

List of 6 frequently asked questions.

  • Q: How much should I give?

While we recognize that you receive many requests, we ask that you put St. Paul’s at the top of your philanthropic priorities. As a diverse community, we know that not everyone can contribute the same amount. Gifts to the Annual Fund range from $20 to $20,000. Only you can determine the right amount. If St. Paul’s has made a difference in your life, we ask that you consider making a personally significant gift.
  • Q: Why should I give to the Annual Fund?

To maintain our commitment to socio-economic diversity, we must have a robust Annual Fund to support operating expenses, as well as Tuition Assistance. Your tax-deductible gift supports an academic program that makes St. Paul’s students sought-after by the top tier of high schools.
  • Q: What is a Matching Gift?

Some employers will double and even triple employees donations. Some companies will even match contributions made by retired employees. Statistically, 1 out of 10 gifts qualify for employee matching gifts program. Please check with the Human Resources Office where you work to learn if your employer will match your contribution to St. Paul’s. Let us know that you have submitted a matching gift request to your company so we can work with you in monitoring this.
  • Q: Are contributions tax-deductible?

St. Paul's Episcopal School is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) institution with the federal tax identification number 94-1525621. Gifts to the Annual Fund are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law. Pledge payments are due by May 1 of the fiscal year in which they were made. If you wish to take a tax-deductible charitable donation in the current calendar year, you must make your contribution by December 31. Thank you!
  • Q: Will my gift truly make a difference?

Absolutely. As a small independent school, we do not receive funding from state or federal government and we have fewer supporters than a college or university. The number of contributions is correspondingly small, but the need continues to be very great. By supporting St. Paul’s, you will sustain the values that make St. Paul’s a special place and preserve it for future generations, just as those in the past maintained St. Paul’s for students today.
  • Q: How do I make my gift?

Whether in one payment or in monthly payments, gifts may be made by:
    • Sending a check made payable to St. Paul’s Episcopal School to St. Paul’s Development Office, 116 Montecito Ave., Oakland, CA 94610.
    • Calling the Development Office at 510.285.9629 to make your credit card gift over the phone with Visa or MasterCard.
    • Make a pledge or credit card gift on your Annual Fund remit envelope, or by contacting the Development Office.
