Family Service Day 2019: Connection to Community

Well over 100 people from the St. Paul’s community gathered on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in January to give their time, efforts, and hopes in service of our community and the greater City of Oakland.
Well over 100 people from the St. Paul’s community gathered on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in January to give their time, efforts, and hopes in service of our community and the greater City of Oakland. On campus, volunteers from across all grade levels and multiple generations packed hygiene and food supplies for people without cooking facilities. Others walked across the street to Lake Merritt Gardens and worked in the School garden plot to level ground for pavers to be laid in and around the raised beds and to paint stones for decoration and good vibes.

Thanks to our Family Service Day volunteer organizers, current parents Lauran Weinmann, Mona Shah, and Anne Arriaga and to our community partners, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Food Pantry and Roots Community Health Center. We value this opportunity to work together.
