The After School Program offers private music lessons on campus throughout the entire year. The music teachers are independent contractors who are provided spaces on campus to work with students enrolled in ASP.

Darian Gray is a versatile drummer with expertise in a wide range of genres. He’s played for and toured with artists such as Booker T Jones (soul, blues, R&B), Cee Lo Green (Pop), Zap Mama (world music), Faye Carol (Jazz), and Tony Furtado (Rock, country, blue grass). With 10 years of teaching experience, he will give you exercises to meet you at your level weather you’re just beginning, have some experience or, are a professional drummer. Saxophonist Sahar Miller returns to St. Paul’s as after school instrumental music teacher. She is a professional saxophonist in her own band, “The GroWiser Band". After graduating from Barnard College in 2001, she travelled and then joined St. Paul’s as a music teacher in 2002. She taught for 5 years at SPES before leaving to pursue a career as a fulltime musician. Now she performs with her band and teaches saxophone, clarinet, and piano privately at her music studio. Ayden Graham is a professional multi-instrumentalist from the San Francisco Bay Area. He teaches private lessons on violin, guitar and piano in a myriad of styles ranging from classical to folk, jazz, rock, and world. Ayden enjoys teaching with equal attention to ergonomics and playful exploration, seeking to impart a well-rounded view of music for those that want to learn and find their own unique voice. In a classic Bay Area career start, Theo Cedar Jones began playing guitar in a converted garage with a group of college friends who decided to be in a rock band together. Mr. Jones teaches classic rock song to combine the complex polyrhythms of Africa with the melody of Western classical music in works by artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, the Beatles, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and even great Bay Area bands like Metallica and Green Day. Guitarist Ryan Schaeffer is a music instructor and performer in the Bay Area. He has been teaching since 2009 and has performed locally at the Fox and Paramount Theaters in Oakland, Yoshi’s, and a number of other Bay Area venues. Ryan has studied music with many local musicians as well as received a degree in Music Performance at the University of Oregon. Ryan has a relaxed, patient teaching style that is ideal for beginning and intermediate students. His flexible approach provides technical skills while focusing on musical genres or styles that interest his students. He has taught students of all ages and welcomes all skill levels. Ryan’s main focus is to keep the experience of learning the instrument enjoyable, fun and engaging.
