Middle School Classroom Chronicle
Students in their middle school P.E. classes have been challenging themselves in their Track and field unit. Track and field is a sport with something for everyone, with running (from sprints to middle-and long-distance events), jumping and throwing.
It is amazing to watch kids run faster, jump farther or throw farther than they thought they could.
Track and field is one of the oldest sports. In ancient times, it was an event held in conjunction with festivals and sports meets such as the Ancient Olympic Games in Greece. At St. Paul’s, we have continued the tradition and have our own Olympiad as a culmination of our Track and field unit.
Over the years St. Paul’s has had many students head off to high school and find success in Track and field. I love to introduce this sport to our students and encourage them not only to take a serious interest in Track and field, but also to see it as an option for one of their high school activities.
