Starting the Conversation with OMCA's "Black Spaces"
Momo Maumalanga, Seventh Grade

Our seventh graders launched their year of Community Engaged Learning with a visit to the Oakland Museum to experience Black Spaces: Reclaim and Remain. Exploring themes of displacement, resistance, and resilience, students began important conversations that will carry into their classrooms and into the community. This year, they’ll study migration, borders, displacement and belonging in their classes and connect these ideas through outreach and a culminating trip to San Diego, CA.
