Introduction

Advisory is a cornerstone of student life at St. Paul’s, intentionally designed to foster connection, belonging, and personal growth. Each week, students gather with their grade-level advisory groups on Monday mornings and Friday afternoons, creating consistent touchpoints for relationship-building and reflection within a supportive community.

Explanation

Advisory meetings balance shared structure with flexibility to meet the evolving needs of students. Each session includes common elements such as a greeting activity, weekly announcements, reflection opportunities, games, and discussion topics. This loose structure ensures that advisors are always equipped with meaningful activities while remaining responsive to the students in front of them. Advisors use their deep knowledge of their students to adapt conversations, slow down when needed, or shift focus to support social-emotional growth, community needs, or individual challenges. Advisory provides every student with a small, trusted group where they can be vulnerable, a consistent adult advocate to build a strong bond with, and a space where they are known and valued for who they are.
