In Sixth grade, students use tables, graphs, and equations to explore real-world news headlines! Have you heard of the BART crisis? Our class has been investigating how a potential 'doomsday scenario' of 30% fare hikes and station closures would impact local riders and their monthly budgets. By comparing fare types for youth, seniors, and low-income residents, students analyzed the equity of these costs and even made formal recommendations to the BART Board to address its deficit.
