Advanced Problem Solving: Middle School Math
Middle School Mathematics

Advanced Problem Solving is an optional, trimester-long math class for Middle School students. This elective class will be taught in addition to the students’ regular math class. The class is offered to eighth graders in the Fall, sixth graders in the Winter and seventh graders in the Spring.

This class is an opportunity for students to explore mathematical topics and challenges that may fall outside of the curriculum. Each week, students tackle a new set of problems designed to deepen their conceptual understanding, solidify their procedural fluency, and enhance their mathematical flexibility and communication related to topics students can expect to see in high school math. Students will work individually as well as in small groups.
