Under One Umbrella: Physical Education Partners
Guthrie Morgan, K-2 Physical Education
In keeping with the third agreement and expectation on our P.E. Umbrella, “Keep a safe space for your feelings and other people’s feelings”,  and our mission statement,”We develop independence, respect, empathy, fairness, and the moral imperative to serve others and care for our planet.” We have three parts to getting a partner:

1. Get a partner
2. Look around and see if anyone needs help getting a partner (there can be one group of three).
3. Once #2 is completed sit with your partner with your feet together with your thumbs up.

This is hard for this age, being exposed to this and aspiring to it helps children know that there is a structure in place for them to not be left out. This this structure relies on their participation and the knowledge that #4 on the Umbrella, “Participate Fully” is something they have a hand in creating.

Again, while this takes a long time to materialize, they have support every time they are learning physically and emotionally about the concepts of Aggressiveness, Passiveness and Assertiveness.
