Energizers fuel teacher-student connection
Nicole Toliver, Kindergarten teacher

Kindergarten students often need both physical and mental breaks throughout the day. These short, active pauses — known as Energizers — give children a chance to move their bodies and refresh their minds with a boost of oxygen. Research has shown that taking breaks from focused concentration can actually increase students’ productivity, improve the quality of their work, and enhance engagement (Earlier, 2003).

Kindergartners love to pause their learning for a fun, lively, and interactive physical activity. Energizers are not only enjoyable but also provide an opportunity for students to connect with their teacher in a different, more playful way. These quick whole-class activities are followed by a smooth transition back to the learning task at hand, often with renewed focus and energy.
