As a private school with a public purpose, St. Paul’s School is dedicated to supporting the human and environmental needs of the greater community. All St. Paul’s students participate in the School’s Service Learning Program, which combines community service with the multicultural academic curriculum. Most significantly, St. Paul’s program features a reflection component, which enables students to ponder how their service impacts others, the world, and themselves. Each year, St. Paul’s students provide over 7,000 hours of service to individuals and local and national organizations.

All service learning activities occur within the school day, as part of the daily curriculum. Students in grades K-6 participate in service projects that are coordinated with their academic studies. Middle School students take service learning as an academic class one quarter each year. They select from several potential sites in the community and conduct an ongoing reflection of their experiences and activities.
