Welcome
Welcome to the Web site of St. Paul’s Episcopal School. Thank you for your interest.
Founded in 1975, St. Paul’s School is a private, coeducational K-8 school with a public purpose dedicated to the education and social development of young people from many different racial, socioeconomic, cultural, family, and learning backgrounds. The School is located on the northwest corner of historic Lake Merritt near downtown Oakland, CA, and is honored to be a part of a vibrant urban environment. Students primarily come from Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
St. Paul’s pursuit of academic excellence respects students as individual learners with unique gifts to develop themselves and to share with each other, their school, and society. A multicultural, constructivist learning program encourages students to participate in their own education. At St. Paul’s School, being part of a community means more than just participating in school activities. The greater St. Paul’s community includes Oakland, the Bay Area, and the world. The students are actively engaged in learning on site, whether by field trips to many different Bay Area locations or participating in the School’s extensive Service Learning Program.
St. Paul’s students develop a lifelong interest and eagerness to learn while their experiences in the greater community instill a sense of responsibility for others and for the world. St. Paul’s students become respectful and responsible young people, well prepared to succeed in high school, college and university, and life.
