Grades 3-5
Kamia Cuevas is Fifth Grade Intern Teacher in her second year at St. Paul's. Last year, she was Seventh Grade Intern. Kamia earned her BA in American History from Boston University. Prior to working as an intern teacher at St. Paul's, she was directing and developing curriculum for the Wave Maker program of Marin Making Waves. Kamia has been involved in academic advising and youth mentoring for more than 12 years. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, dancing, jogging, and martial arts training.
Jeremy Davidson returns to St. Paul’s for his fourth year as Fourth Grade Teacher. He earned his BA in Music with a minor in American Literature from Middlebury College. He also graduated from the first cohort of the Bay Area Teacher Training Institute (BATTI). After two years as an Associate Teacher at Katherine Delmar Burke School in San Francisco, Jeremy taught a bilingual fourth grade class for a year in the Oakland Unified School District. He is the President of the San Francisco City Chorus, as well as one of its basses, and he also sings in the chamber group Vox Dilecti. For fun he enjoys cooking for friends, gardening, and practicing Bikram yoga.
Nicole Dreyfus begins her third year as a Third Grade Teacher and her fourth at St. Paul’s School. Nicole was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York where she taught third grade for two years before moving to the Bay Area. She earned her BA in Literature and Creative Writing from Bard College and a ME from Bank Street College. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys painting, writing, reading, and making movies.
Ryan Freed is in his first year as Fifth Grade Teacher. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Ryan has taught fifth grade at a public school in Sunnyvale and holds a teaching credential from San Jose State University. At Cal, he was a member of the rugby team that three times won the Collegiate Rugby National Championships.
Susan Grossberg is in her eleventh year at St. Paul's as Third Grade Teacher and serves as the faculty member on the Board of Trustees. Prior to teaching, Susan spent 18 years in the banking industry with First Interstate Bank and Wells Fargo. She received her BA in History from UC-Santa Barbara and her multiple subject teaching credential from CSU-Hayward. She has done volunteer work at several public schools and at A Friendly Manor, a shelter for homeless women in Oakland. She enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, traveling, and reading.
Dominique Kohl will be Fourth Grade Guest Teacher beginning in January 2009. She is a former teacher at Children’s Day School in San Francisco and has taught at public elementary schools in Texas. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, she holds a master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Houston.
Lili Malabed joined St. Paul's in 2006 as Fifth Grade Teacher. She graduated from SFSU and was awarded the Honorary Hood for Liberal Studies majors. Lili has been teaching in the Bay Area for thirteen years in public and independent schools, most recently as a Teacher Leader at USF, leading workshops and mentoring AmeriCorps teachers in the school’s TEAMS program. Before teaching, Lili was a microcomputer specialist. In her free time she goes camping, attends dance and spoken word events, and spends time with her family.
Kathryn Robertson returns for her second year as Fourth Grade Teacher. She will be on maternity leave beginning in January 2009. She is originally from Texas, where she taught elementary education for seven years before working in nonprofit volunteer and event management. She earned her BA in Psychology from Austin College and her teaching certificate from The University of North Texas. Because she is still new to California, she loves to take sightseeing trips throughout the state. She also enjoys reading, baking, and volunteering for an adult literacy program in Oakland.
Zachary Weingarten is in his second year at St. Paul's and his first as Third Grade Intern Teacher. Last year, he was Sixth Grade Intern Teacher. Zach grew up in Maine and graduated from Hampshire College with a BA in Music Composition and Guitar Performance. In 2005, he moved to Oakland and worked as an after school teacher and summer camp counselor. He is in his second year of the BATTI credentialing program. Zach enjoys writing and performing music, outdoor activities, and reading fiction.
